The Good Samaritan

Was not some dude who did something good and it's as simple as that. No. Not how it worked. Samaritans and Jews hated each other for some reason I never gave a shit about. Some Jew was lying beaten on the side of the road, a bunch of likely helpers passed him, and this Samaritan came by and helped him above and beyond what anyone may expect from another. Jesus used this story as an illustration that everyone is one's neighbour, not just everyone one gets along with. It was about compassion defying expectations and social trends, not a passerby helping a stranger. I don't care if convention now is to use it as if it's about "someone who helps a stranger". It's still stupid and I still dislike it because every time I hear it I cringe in pedantic pain at the inaccuracy.
