I don't suppose this one matters so much, as I'd finished eating, but, there's always the spirit and principle of the thing.
I was eating (cheesecake, yum) at Zini's Pizzeria in Oak Lawn, Dallas, TX -- barefoot, of course. I was socialising with the last of the crowd I'd come with, walking around here and there talking to various people, when some employee who looked like he was tweaked on meth or something asked where my shoes are. I said they were in my bag (I carry house shoes; sometimes I really can't be bothered with it, dig?). He wanted me to put them on. I did, then sat down at the table he was eating at to ask why.
"Broken glass". Gee whiz. A hell of a lot of broken glass suddenly appeared when I started going barefoot. Funny how that works.
Of course it's also a health regulation.
Once it was explained that it isn't, and once it was asked, "What broken glass? Is there a lot of it scattered around here or something?" it became a matter of "The other customers don't want to see your bare feet." This man's marvelous telepathic abilities aside, the other customers can suck it. I was too tired to pursue the matter by pointing out that half the customers there were in flip-flops. What a difference!
And then I went outside and didn't care because I've been to that place twice ever and the food isn't astounding anyway.
So there.
