(A Dubious Guide to Navy Boot Camp)
HMC Tavares, GSE1 Johnson, SK1 Krysinski, Division 320 in 2008 (320-08) out of Ship 10, USS Enterprise, best damn ship on the base. I will never forget.
Though I was separated before completing training, I was in RTC for all but the last week of training; that is to say, I went through all of the actual training, but didn't finally prepare for and perform the graduation ceremony. As such, I have been set free with oodles of valuable knowledge, which any soon-to-be recruits reading this will quickly forget as the RDCs (Recruit Division Commanders) scare you into a mental hard reboot.
It's fucking boot camp. Need I say more?
Boot camp, Navy or otherwise, is not the one your old relative went to, where you're banished to a drying room set to the maximum temperature, wearing all of your cold-weather gear at once, to do exercises until your sweat condenses on the ceiling and falls on you, because you weren't standing properly.
I think if it were that way today my division would have had much fewer military posture and bearing hits, but, as they'll tell you while ranting about what they would do to you pathetic excuses for Sailors if they could, their hands are tied because everyone wants to be a little bitch and cry to their parents about how horribly they're treated at boot camp (No shit!). Parents complain to politicians, who Make Change Happen and ruin the fun for everyone.
But maybe you'd prefer to glide easily through boot camp, and I can't begrudge you that. I felt the same way, but got to like the harshness (and wished there were more). Here's how:
Wash your ass . . .
. . . Then put something on it.
And for the love of God learn to walk in a straight line.

I know I've left a lot out here, but I'll post it now anyway because it's decently substantial by now. If I've left anything out that you'd like to see covered please do contact me with your questions or comments about Navy boot camp.
*If you don't count RTC, I don't really give a shit. Please don't feel free to tell me all about it.
