The majority of your trouble in boot camp will be caused by what you say. The best thing is to shut the fuck up. Always think first. Do you really need to say or ask what you're about to? Do you need to say it to the RDC? Can you say it to a fellow recruit instead, who won't get pissy because you wasted their time?
Do you really need to say anything at all to the recruit next to you when the compartment is noisy and the RDCs are in the fishbowl getting pissed off because you're all being loud? Do you need to contribute to the noise?
You'll have to speak eventually, though; when you do, remember this:

| Something quiet. | Something loud and clear, but don't fucking yell at your RDC. You aren't a Marine. |
| Can I have, Will you, I need, I want, etc. | Chief/Petty Officer, respectfully request [item, service, sign my interstation pass, check my rack and tell me if I did anything wrong, blow me, whatever, but for goodness' sake don't say you need something or they will give you what you need. ;] |
