Define for me love
though not its components;
I know of our passion,
of lust, tender moments --
Haddaway's question still stands,
And again I must demand:
Define for me, Love
when I may utter
the articulation
of heart gone aflutter.
Daily it screams the more to go free,
So again I will implore of thee:
Define! for me love
I need not sigh
when I can hold you
and see in your eyes
the feeling I spoke -- but, a creature of language,
I ask you again to relieve my anguish:
Define: for me, love
Eludes our illusion
of all understanding --
but no less Elysian!
Nevertheless we will labor thereof,
And pray evermore: Define for me love.
