Nightshift

Backstory: Supervisor David is generally awesome and his nights team generally liked him. Management removed him from night shift against his will. He hopes to return at the next schedule assignment. That's pretty much it.

Lyrics adapted from Nightshift by The Commodores, which has lyrics far better than mine.

David, he was a sup of mine
And he could lead a team
Armed with a heart divine
David was always there to help
A team he intertwined
And I still can hear him say
"Hey, this is David
What's up?" [spoken word during inst. break]
Say you will restore our corps
Forevermore

Gonna be some inbounds
Coming down on the nightshift
I bet your team's renowned
Oh, your metrics will abound
Gonna be a long night
It's gonna be all right
On the nightshift
Oh, you found another home
And we feel so alone
On the nightshift

David, hey whatcha doin' now?
It seems like yesterday
When you were still around
David, you made
The team aspire
You came and gifted us
Your love, it lifted us
Higher and higher
Keep it up and
We'll be there
On your team
Oh, say you will restore our corps
Forevermore

Gonna be some inbounds
Coming down on the nightshift
I bet your team's renowned
Oh, your metrics will abound
Gonna be a long night
It's gonna be all right
On the nightshift
Oh, you found another home
But you'll come back, it's known,
To the night shift

Gonna miss your sweet voice
That soothing voice
On the nightshift
We all remember you
Ooh, we'll always be a crew
At the end of a long day
It's gonna be okay
On the nightshift
You found another home
I know it's not for long
On the nightshift
